Evaluation Question 3

OVERVIEW FOR MUSIC VIDEO

Hello everyone today I managed to get my audience feedback for my music video and recorded it so you can see what they thought too. First of all we can see that in the audience feedback people liked the close-ups that were in the music video. This can be because it allows our audience to have a closer connection to the audience as the message is strong in the music and by her saying it in a close-up this allows the audience to understand the deeper meaning being portrayed by the star. In addition to that the lighting was also praised by our audience. I believe this is because in pop the lighting used is high key as a result by using it in the music video it meets the needs of our target audience. The clothes of our artist was also praised as our audience said that it suits the conventions of the pop genre. This is because the clothes used throughout the music video were bright which is a common theme and therefore was relatable to our target audience and was mentioned by them. Final point is the lip syncing. This was brought up as they thought it was realistic. This is a very important factor as if the lip sync was out of sync then this would make my video look unprofessional which by having a good lip sync allowed our music video to look much more professional.

OVERVIEW FOR DIGIPAK

In terms of audience feedback for my digipak majority of the people seemed to enjoy it. The main downside was the size of Elisia. They said that it was a bit too large as a result I decided to lower the size so it was more suitable. However, the praises were high as people liked the flower in the background as they said it was a nice touch and made it look better as without it they said it would be plain. In addition to that they liked the photos on the digipak. This is because the colour of the clothes of the artist was suitable for digipak as the colours of the digipak along with the clothes went along well.

Evaluation Question 2

HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND ANCINLLARY TEXTS?

Overall, I believe the main and ancillary tasks were effective due to promoting my artist (Ellisa) effectively as both of them were professional like. The main task was that my and my partner to create a music and produce a music video and have the ancillary tasks such as the advert and the digipack which is used to promote the music video. We decided to do ‘Pretty Girl’ by Maggie Lindemann as our main task which was a pop song and decided that we had to use clear cut conventions such as clothes and even the lighting which I believe was effective such as both the clothes were fashionable and also high key lighting was used which could help us attract our audience from the pop genre by using these. For both of digipak and the advert we used ‘Photoshop’ to make it look as professional as it can get. In our digipak and advert both of them had bright colours used such as blue and pink fonts and spine and also white colours for the background. This is because when we done our research and saw artists such as Lana Del Rey the common theme was that it was bright and stood out. As a result, by following these conventions this will help our ‘product’ become more successful as fitted the conventions therefore will make people more likely to purchase it. This is shown in Dyer’s theory who he believed that the audience perception of an artists depends on understanding the artist. This means that by having our artist branded the same way other pop artists are this will make the audience identify it much easier. We chose the fonts from the website (dafont.com) which allowed us to brand our artist due to the unique fonts used. For example, in our advert you can see the name ‘Ellisa’ stands out. One is due to the size which helps us brand her even more as that’s the first thing people spot as it stands out by also due to the font style which made it look clean and is common in Pop adverts. In terms of our model (artist) for the cover we used make-up, Photoshop and appropriate lighting for the pictures for both the ancillary tasks and music video. The reason for this is because we followed Laura Mulvey’s theory of attracting the male gaze which should get the attention of the audience to the looks of the artist.

Audience feedback - advert

The picture below is our advert for our album but we managed to get into a problem. We couldn't decide what opacity to go with for our background flowers so we decided to stick it up so our audience can vote on it as we asked them which is most eye catching. As you can see from the picture the one with 90% opacity was the most voted one. This is helpful as it will allow us to change the advert so it fits with our target market. In addition to that we managed to get extra feedback such as the stars and the name of the reviews were heard to see. As a result we will ensure they're brighter so it can be read much easily as this will be important selling point due to the reviews being from professional companies therefore can impact if people would want the album.
