Individual analysis question

Hello everyone today I'm going to analyse the music video 'Anywhere' by Rita Ora.

Rita Ora is a 'pop' artists and grew up in London with her family. Her song 'anywhere' was co-written by Andrew Watt who also helped write Justin Bieber's 'Let me love you', Kygo featuring Selina Gomez's 'It Ain't me' and Camila Cabello's 'Havana'.

Narrative:

This video as you can see has a seducing narrative. This is because throughout the video we see Rita Ora dressed 'openly' and shows her body parts such as her legs as she keeps changing her clothes in different shots as she goes to different locations which in this case could be with the audience. This is because as she goes different locations we go with her which could imply that she's trying to target the 'Male Gaze' which is a theory from Luara Mulvey. This is when the artists is objectified and sexualised this is a result of some of the shots which target parts of her body which can visually please a man and as a result attract more people to view the video.

Audience:

The mainstream target audience for this video is teenagers (16-21). This is because 'love' which is what the songs about is more relatable to young people as they think more about love and attention at that age then a young kid or elderly person would think.

Genre:

The genre of this music video is pop. This is because we see many of the conventions of a pop covered in the music video such as the bright lights we see throughout the music video and also the way she dresses it's not old fashioned and is mainstream which is one of the conventions of pop. Finally the song is about love which is also considered as an conventions of pop.

Representation:

The music video is mainly focused on Rita Ora and is about her going anywhere with her love which in this case is the audience. This is because we see Rita Ora going into different locations during the video which we are forced to go with her which could show that the she is talking to us and we should follow her anywhere or could imply that she'll go anywhere with us as she keeps changing locations trying to find us.

Analysis:

In the music video we also saw Richard Dyer's Star theory being used too. The quote Richard Dyer said "Stars are commodities produced and consumed on the strength of their meanings". He believes that stars are created as a artificial images instead of being represented as 'real people' which gives them a unique selling point. In the music video we see the camera always looking up to Rita Ora which implies that she's the more dominant figure than us the viewer and this could be because everyone wanting her as she has a unique body which she shows off throughout the video which makes her unique from rest of the artists.
